Mayor Warren fights to make Rochester a climate friendly city

Governor Cuomo recently announced that under Mayor Lovely Warren’s leadership, Rochester is a model for how cities can fight for the environment through policies and programs. In addition, Rochester has been designated a Certified Climate Smart Community and a Clean Energy Community by New York State. Mayor Warren has implemented numerous policies to foster a safe and healthy environment in Rochester, by:

  • Installing 24 electric vehicle charging stations across the city
  • Creating a bike share program
  • Focusing efforts on cleaning up brownfield sites
  • Adopting the NYS Unified Solar Permit to streamline the approval process for local solar projects
  • Partnering with a local nonprofit to run a community-based solarize campaign
  • Making upgrades to City Hall to make it more environmentally friendly.
