(Tuesday, June 8, 2021) — Today, myself and Councilmember Miguel Meléndez announced that the first in a series of ROC the Block employment fairs will take place Thursday, June 10 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the corner of Central Park and Third Street.
ROC the Block employment fairs bring businesses and recruiters directly into our neighborhoods. I could not be more thankful for Councilmember Meléndez and the many community partners who are supporting this initiative. By doing all we can to provide our residents with jobs and financial stability, it helps us create safer, more vibrant neighborhoods, which in turn lead to better educational opportunities.
ROC the Block employment fairs bring employers and residents together right in city neighborhoods in a fun, localized outdoor setting patterned after a city block party. In addition to traditional opportunities for residents to meet directly with employers and career-advancement organizations, the events will feature DJs, refreshments and other activities.
Each City quadrant will host a ROC the Block employment fair before the end of the summer. Additional dates and locations will be announced soon.
The following employers and organizations will be represented at the first fair on Thursday: Alsco Uniforms; Amazon; Bausch & Lomb; CDS Life Transitions; City of Rochester Financial Empowerment Center; Complemar Partners; Concentrix; Genesee Brewery; Gorbel Inc.; Greenlight Networks; Hammer Packaging; Heritage Christian Services; Hillside Family of Agencies; Isaac Training and Education Center (ITEC); LiDestri Food and Drink; Lifetime Assistance Inc.; Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Office; ReJob 2.0; Rochester Educational Opportunity Center; Rochester Institute of Technology; Rochester Regional Health; Sutherland Group; The ARC of Monroe; Thermo Fisher Scientific; Tops Friendly Markets; U.S. Census Bureau; UNICON; VMD Corporation; and the Young Adults Manufacturing Training Employment Program (YAMTEP).
